My work as an academic researcher and developer goes back all the way to my undergraduate studies in digital humanities. Beginning as a web developer for the Maryland Institute for Technology in the Humanities (University of Maryland), my career has taken me through a wide variety of experiences in academic research, development, teaching, and project management.
In my years at the Digital Humanities Initiative (Hamilton College), I was excited to lead teams of faculty and students alike in research projects, workshops, conferences, and summer institutes. Our pioneering work in virtual reality also led to opportunities for students to develop 3D recreations and simulations in VR–skills we were able to help teach through custom internship models pairing our students directly with faculty leads. I was able to help students hone this work still further by helping lead the development of focused summer institutes that gave our faculty/student teams focused and productive work experiences, in company with both similar teams and subject expert coaches.
Finally, my work since has included educational platform development at NASA, as well as continued direct student mentorship consultations with universities, and community-based development workshops within my local community.
